Help keep workers safe in cold conditions with the right weather gear
Cold weather has already begun moving into parts of the country, signaling that winter is finally upon us. Extreme weather complicates utility field operations, putting linemen in danger who keep essential service delivery infrastructure up and running despite the freezing rain, sleet, and snow. So, it’s important that when dressing for harsh weather conditions when out in the field to take into account materials and insulation to combat frostbite and hypothermia.

Truewerk T1 Werkpant Sets New Benchmark for Warm Weather Comfort
We connected with Truewerk when they first launched their line of game-changing workwear. For the most part, I really love what they’re doing. But in the great state of Florida, I need a heavy jacket exactly zero days of the year. Hot weather clothing is something I turn to in at least part of 10 months of the year. So when I got the opportunity to try out the Truewerk T1 Werkpant during the dog days of summer, I jumped all over it.
Truewerk T.5 Werkhoody: Full Coverage for Hot Weather

There comes a point in your life when you realize protecting yourself from UV rays is more important than working with your shirt off to stay cool. True, that might come at the same time that we’re drinking more six packs than displaying one, but it’s still an important turning point. The Truewerk T.5 Werkhoody is one option that does a fine job of protecting your skin and keeping you cool.
Truewerk G2 WerkPant Review: Industrial Athletes Only
Workwear Reviews & Safety Equipment | May 22, 2017 | Thomas Gaige
Most contractors or tradesmen probably don’t think of themselves as athletes in their specific fields. So when I heard the term “industrial athlete” from Truewerk, they had my interest. When we think of any Pro athlete, we know that the gear that they use is not what you pick up at your local discount retailer. Top brands with special performance enhancements are the norm. So what’s this mean for the guy that reads Pro Tool Reviews? It’s time that we step up our game and check out the Truewerk G2 WerkPant to see if they can live up to the needs of today’s industrial athletes.
Truewerk T1 Tech Hoodie and Double-Stitch T1 Werkshort
Workwear Reviews & Safety Equipment | June 10, 2016 | Kenny Koehler
Spring is in the air now that most of the snow has left the country! Unless of course you live in Florida where it’s been 90 degrees for the last month and a half already and the only Winter we know is the dolphin from that movie my kids like. Thanks to the good fortune in my choice of places to live, I’ve been able to give the new Truewerk T1 Tech Hoodie and Truewerk Double-Stitch T1 Werkshort plenty of good use.

Truewerk Workwear Ready for Spring
When my phone rings and I see Brian’s number light up, I get pretty excited. No, he’s not my best friend or my brother (although he’s quickly rising up the ranks). He’s the guy behind Truewerk workwear. When he calls, it usually means there’s something new for me to check out. If you read our review of the winter lineup, you’ll recall there’s a difference between regular workwear and what Truewerk offers.
Truewerk workwear goes against the grain of the stereotypical construction worker and designs clothes for the industrial athlete. It’s designed for a person that’s more fit than most – wrapping around your body in a way that’s comfortable, stylish, and shows off that you take care of yourself.

Truewerk Workwear Brings High Performance Technical Gear to the Jobsite
Durable workwear is as important as having a dependable power tool. For the professional, choosing the perfect work gear means finding the perfect balance of comfort, simplicity, durability, and functionality. Honestly, all of us make tradeoffs. Personally, I value comfort and function and will give up some durability and simplicity to get it. Truewerk workwear is designed to help close the gap and eliminate some of those tradeoffs.

Whether you face a mild or harsh climate, here's a layering option to consider when stepping out into the winter weather this season.
TrueWerk has designed its work clothing very intelligently. I love that it features stretch fabrics, and well-designed pockets. This jacket features 4-way stretch, is waterproof but breathable, and has a longer shirt tail and double-stitched seams.
It has eight pockets total, two at the chest that will fit a smartphone and case. The hand pockets are large enough to fit my hands when I’m wearing gloves. The left upper arm has a pocket in which you can fit pencils. A feature I really like is “cuff gaskets” in the sleeves. They keep water from running down my arms and keep the warm air in.
Comfortable work wear that will keep you cooler
Tools of the Trade | August 13, 2018 | Tim Uhler
Long sleeves and pants in the heat? If you wear the right gear, you'll actually stay cooler.
If you work outdoors regularly, sun exposure is no joke. According to the CDC, nearly 5 million people are treated for skin cancer each year and 90% of the time, the culprit is the sun’s UV rays. Here in Washington state, we have some of the highest skin-cancer rates in the country, because we underestimate UV on cloudy days. I have always been a shorts and polo shirt guy in the summertime. Too, I have always been religious about wearing a large-brimmed hat (according to OSHA, a baseball hat is not enough) as well as sunscreen (but I hate wearing sunscreen).
NEW Work gear reviewed

Last winter, I wore and then wrote up our experience with some European-style work pants. Soon after that review, Truewerk reached out to me over Instagram to see if I’d try out a pair of its work pants. I’d heard good things about the T2 version, so I decided to give them a shot. I also wanted to try out Snickers Workwear products, so I requested to test out a couple of pairs there as well. As the European-style work pant gains popularity here in the states, the options and features are increasing.
This Local Apparel Company Makes Athletic-Inspired Workwear

If Carhartt and Under Armour had a love child, it would look something like Truewerk, the Denver-based online retailer that creates high-end apparel for trade workers—a group often overlooked by outdoor brands.
Colorado’s outdoor enthusiasts are spoiled with options for savvy adventure gear, but as Truewerk founder Brian Ciciora saw it, there’s a large group of people being overlooked by the strides made in performance wear: trade workers.
He knew the woes of archaic workwear all too well himself. Before taking an interest in product development, Ciciora worked in construction, building homes in the Winter Park area as well as working in the ski patrol at the resort. Performing metal works at 9000-feet of elevation comes with plenty of unique struggles, and Ciciora guarded himself from the elements in what’s often considered the usual for the industry: cotton canvas and duck cloth from workwear giants like Carhartt and Dickies.
Truewerk T2 Fleece WerkHoody + T3 WerkBiB
Gear Hub | February 25, 2020 | Bobby L'Heaureaux
The cold weather is still around for a couple more months. There is still work to be done outside and new projects to be started as everything starts to melt. Like many, I have struggled on the perfect clothing to wear when working outside. I always find myself layering with my technical gear and that inevitably becomes work gear once I stain or rip it. Truewerk, a Denver based company, has set out to solve these issues with technical performance workwear.
After sliding into the T3 WerkBibs for the first time I knew this was a different workwear brand. There was no detail skipped when it comes to these bibs. They have a butter soft lining with three-layer fabric that is waterproof and breathable with a four-way ripstop outer layer. Truewerk cut out the bulk and kept the warmth. The full zip leg makes it easy to get in and out of and the built-in knee pads are clutch in many situations. With perfectly placed pockets, internal gaiters and subtle reflective details, the T3 WerkBibs are perfect for working outdoors in the cold.
Cold Protection | December 20, 2019
The T4 WerkHoody is an insulated shell built to handle the coldest of jobsites. It is engineered with four-way stretch, has reflective details and is temperature regulating for excess body heat during movement. The hoodie is windproof and waterproof, and includes a back zipper to allow access for a harness when working at height. The layering system of the T-Line Collection is sleek, functional, and optimizes comfort and safety.
Trends in Cold Protection
Cold Protection | December 20, 2019 | Tracy Haas Depa
Working in cold conditions can be challenging, even dangerous. Without adequate protection, outdoor workers may experience frostbite and hypothermia, a potentially deadly form of cold stress that occurs when a person’s body temperature drops below 95° F. Here, industry insiders discuss new technology being used to help keep workers safe in cold conditions, and offer helpful tips.
Innovations in fabric and insulation technologies for cold-weather personal protective equipment have grown in recent years, said Brian Ciciora, CEO and founder of Denver-based Truewerk. He points to synthetic fabrics that have four-way stretch, allowing workers to maintain mobility and dexterity.
12 Top Gifts For Woodworkers
Ask a Woodworker | November 22, 2016 | Ethan Abramson
I am always being asked about tools and woodworking products. Around this time of year a lot of those questions turn into, what would make a good gift. Below are a few of the products that have stood out for me this year that would make good gifts. Feel free to check back to my other reviews for some of the larger tools and further gift ideas.
For the cold weather worker: Truewerk double-stitch T3 werkpant
These pants are warm, water proof, and above all, comfortable. They have pockets where you need them and hold up very well to all types of work environments.
Newsletters | December 1, 2019 | Tim Carter
Three weeks ago, I was asked to test some clothing. I received a handsome vest, a hoodie and two pairs of pants from TrueWerk. The vest and hoodie are made from the same fabric and have the same look and cut. To picture the vest, just look at the photo below and imagine no sleeves and no hood. Both the vest and the hoodie have become my GO-TO favorites. The fabric of both is medium-weight and they're so soft! They both have strategic pockets for smart phones and the side pockets are nice and spacious. The fabric has some stretch to it, but not much.
Truewerk t2 work pant
Editors' Choice Awards | October 23, 2017 | Chris Ermides
Comfortable and durable, these work pants look good too.
There comes a point in your life when you realize In his article “Honor Your Craft” (republished on our site from ThisIsCarpentry), carpenter and JLC contributor Gary Katz argues for the importance of making a good first impression with clients. Among Katz’ list is the importance of appearance. When it comes to appearance, pants are paramount. And while there are a number of good options that are available that transcend the common riveted canvas-style pant, Truekwerk’s T-2 have proved a viable option for both professional and clean appearance, and also for work-related features.

The new G2 WerkWear line has both functionality and a modern look.
Inspired by workwear used by military personnel and professional mountain guides, the Truewerk Gravitas (G) 2 WerkShirt and G2 WerkPant feature industrial thread in the seams and a no-melt fabric. Engineered with a cotton/Cordura nylon brand and a two-way stretch rip stop weave, the G2 Werk apparel line is designed for the harshest jobsites. The double-stitch T1 short has features intended for the jobsite as well.
TOP 41 essentials for fall camping
Outdoors, Shopping | December 27, 2019 | Harry Spampinato
Fall is perhaps the best time of year to embark on a camping trip due to the pleasant temps and reduced crowds in the great outdoors! The early morning and evening chill of autumn calls for a different set of camping essentials than the apparel and equipment from your warm-weather gear locker.
Our list of the best gear and accessories for fall camping will ensure you’re cozy as can be this season as well as equipped with all the best toys and gadgets for some before-winter fun!
The TRUEWERK T.5 WerkHoody is a great garment for fall camping that any style outdoorsman or woman will find to be super versatile and practical. This brand designs workwear meant for handling the abuses of the job site and the great outdoors. The fabric employed here is engineered to be both breathable and moisture-wicking, as well as highly abrasion-resistant. It’s a sort of wonder-fabric that does it all while remaining soft to the touch and comfortable to wear.
THE NEXT GENERATION OF WORK PANTS HAVE ARRIVED
Work pants have evolved and I’m here for it. These three new work pants from Helly Hansen, Tactical 5.11, and Truwerk are the best of the bunch. They’re lightweight, durable, and stylish—the perfect work pants for the jobsite and today’s modern maker. There’s no reason to settle for baggy and uncomfortable work pants that will wear out after a few shifts. Denim should also be left at home as it offers little protection and wears quickly. The new breed of work pants is mostly made of breathable synthetic materials that are many times stronger than cotton weaves and much better looking.
Truewerk T2 WerkPant
The T2 WerkPant looks and feels unique with its softshell fabric that you will either love or hate (we love it). The outside of the pants is reflective and water-resistant, while the inside feels soft and silky. If you’ve got a chaffing issue, then this is the pant for you.

Truewerk T2 Fleece WerkHoody
The more you layer, the more you look like the Michelin Man, right? Truewerk doesn’t think that has to be the case, and their T2 Fleece Werkhoody is a great example. Our team was drawn to its athletic fit that’s less bulky than most other options out there. We also really like the hi-viz yellow and reflective strips that keep you visible to others once you strip off your outer layer as the day warms up.
